The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) conducted an evaluation visit for the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) application of KLD on its proposed Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences (BSLS) program on November 28, 2024.
The CHED RQAT visiting entourage comprised the technical panel of evaluators for Biology, Dr. Cesar Demayo and Dr. Catherine Genevieve Lagunzad; CHED Central Office representative, Ms. Kripper Valmonte; and CHED-IV A Supervising Education Program Specialist, Dr. Judith Mary Ann Chan.
The program evaluation includes site visits and assessments of various aspects of the program such as the curriculum, administration, faculty, instructional facilities, laboratory, and equipment. Aside from these, the team also reviewed other areas such as research and community extension and required facilities for the BSLS program.
The following KLD officials participated in the evaluation visit, namely, Dr. Juanito Cabanias, KLD President/College Administrator; Dr. Regielene Gonzales, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Mr. Jerickson Bautista, Director for Center for Academic Programming and Implementation; and Domarth Ace Duque, Institute of Science (IoS) outgoing dean; Dr. Arianne Grace Revilla, IoS incoming dean; Patrique Erika Cancel, program director; and IoS faculty members. With the CHED’s approval of the application, KLD shall offer the BSLS program starting Academic Year 2025-2026. This signifies a significant milestone for KLD as it expands its academic offerings and provides students with more opportunities for career advancement in the growing field of life sciences. Additionally, the BSLS program is a good pre-medical program, providing students with a solid foundation in biology and other relevant sciences.
