The Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas (KLD) convened its community on November 5, 2024, for the much-anticipated State of the College Address, an annual tradition that provides a comprehensive overview of the institution’s progress, achievements, and forward-looking initiatives. The theme for this year’s event, “Ulat Para sa Kolehiyo II: Isang Mas Matatag na KLD, Para kay Cong. Pidi!,” underlined the College’s commitment to its students and faculty members and paid respect to the late Congressman Elpidio ‘Pidi’ Barzaga, who made KLD a reality.
In his address, College President/Administrator Juanito Cabanias proudly highlighted KLD’s remarkable academic accomplishments, noting that it has been dedicated in producing highly skilled and competent graduates. Further, he emphasized the institution’s research productivity, as evidenced by the impressive number of faculty members who had published groundbreaking studies which have garnered both local and international recognitions. Underscoring the importance of fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for its academic scholars, Dr. Cabanias emphasized the institution’s commitment to addressing the unique challenges and stressors faced by these students, many of whom come from economically-deprived backgrounds. Recognizing the diverse and complex obstacles confronting its student body, the college has implemented a multifaceted support system to empower its scholars. This includes enhanced mental health resources, targeted academic counseling, and a comprehensive financial assistance program, all of which are designed to ensure that no student is left behind, regardless of their socioeconomic circumstances.
He also pointed out the need to further strengthen its academic programs, enhance its research capabilities, and forge even stronger partnerships with local government and industry leaders. Echoing the late Congressman Pidi’s clear vision for KLD, Dr. Cabanias reaffirmed the College’s unwavering commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically-proficient, but also imbued with a deep sense of social responsibility and a steadfast determination to contribute to the betterment of their communities.
The event was attended by the Sangguniang Panlungsod members, faculty, staff, and the student body, all of whom gathered to bear witness to the institution’s remarkable achievements and the President’s captivating vision for the future of KLD.
