KLD has launched a new community project aimed at empowering Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in the City of Dasmariñas. The initiative, called "Upskilling and Reskilling Training Initiatives for Vulnerable Children and Adults," seeks to provide essential literacy, life, and livelihood skills to 100 PDL to help them reintegrate into society. The project is led by Anacoreta P. Arciaga, with a team from the Institute of Foundational Studies (IFS) and the Department of Governance and Development Studies - Social Work (SW).
On August 28, 2025, KLD representatives visited the BJMP to coordinate with jail officers and assess the needs of the PDL. The visit identified a target group of 100 PDL, consisting of 30 female and 70 male individuals. Based on this, the report suggests a variety of future activities, including entrepreneurship and livelihood training, technical skills, health and wellness programs, and even college programs. The project is scheduled to run from October to December 2025, with sessions on weekends and a Monday morning session. This collaboration is meant to be the start of a long-term partnership focused on rehabilitation and community engagement.
