Recognizing the influential and pervasive nature of digital platforms in modern communication, KLD has officially rolled out its Social Media Policy. This document, drafted by the Public Affairs and Communication Unit, establishes principles and guidelines for the use of social media by KLD community, including students, faculty, administrators, and staff. The policy’s core aim is to cultivate a responsible, respectful, and secure online environment that reinforces the institution’s values.
For students, the policy strictly prohibits the sharing of others’ personal information without consent, the disclosure of confidential KLD information (like grades or internal policies), cyberbullying, hate speech, and defamation. Students expressing personal views should use a clear disclaimer. Violations may lead to disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion.
For faculty and staff, the policy requires professional and respectful online behavior, with strict adherence to the confidentiality and privacy of student records and internal KLD data. Personnel who identify their KLD affiliation on personal accounts must include a disclaimer stating their views are their own. Prohibited conduct includes harassment, unauthorized disclosure, and hate speech. Violations can lead to disciplinary action up to termination of employment. This initiative is a step in establishing clear expectations for ethical digital citizenship and mitigating risks associated with misuse, including legal liabilities and reputational damage.
