Three students of the Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas bagged gold and silver medals in different local and international chess tournaments.
International Master Daniel Quizon won gold at the Philippine National Games Rapid Team event, Philippine Games Blitz event, and at the Eastern Asian Juniors Standard event held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. He also got the silver medal at the Eastern Asia Juniors Rapid event.
Likewise, International Master Michael Concio, Jr. took the gold medal at the National Games Rapid Individual, National Games Gold Rapid Team, National Games Blitz Team, and at the Eastern Asia Juniors Rapid event. He also notched the silver medal at the National Games Blitz Individual and Eastern Asia Juniors Rapid Event Individual, and a bronze at the Kamatyas Invitational International Closed Championship.
For women’s division, International Master Kylen Joy Mordido claimed the gold medal at the Philippine National Games both in standard and team events, Philippine National Blitz in individual event and a silver medal in team event.
KLD will continuously provide academic assistance to these international chess masters for their success and for bringing pride to the institution. Dr. Juanito Cabanias, College President, expressed his support to the players and promised Cong. Pidi’s continuous assistance as they will represent the institution, the City of Dasmariñas, and the country in the upcoming international chess tournaments such as Vietnam Closed Tournament, Bangkok International Open Chess Championship, Vietnam Invitational Closed Tournament, World Juniors Chess Championship, and World Chess Olympiad.
