The KLD community is buzzing with anticipation as the construction of the new College Building 3 (CB3) rapidly moves toward its final stages. This major infrastructure project is a testament to the city’s commitment to quality higher education and is set to deliver state-of-the-art facilities that will significantly enhance the student learning environment.
According to the City Engineering Office, the entire CB3 project achieved an impressive 88% completion rate as of September. External works are largely concluded, with doors and windows now fully installed. Focus has decisively shifted to the interiors, where finishing touches, particularly the painting works, are actively underway. The major mechanical systems are also already in place with all air-conditioning units and the main elevator have been installed, bringing the building closer to operational readiness.
The new Registrar’s Office is set for guaranteed completion within the month of October. Partitions, paintworks, and main electrical installations are now finished. Security is ensured with the installation of doors and locksets, securing the important student files located in the vault room. Only the transaction window is pending delivery and installation, which is expected shortly.
Significant advancements have also been recorded in the specialized academic facilities. The Psychology Laboratory stands at 90% completion, with its wall partitions, paintworks, and all electrical works successfully finalized. This modern space features one-way mirrors, which have been installed to support advanced observational studies. Only the final doors are pending installation.
Progress in the technology area is equally strong. The Computer Laboratory has its wall partitions and paintworks completed. All major electrical works are finished, following a final inspection and meeting conducted with the ICDI Dean and the Laboratory Technician to confirm requirements. The remaining electrical works for the space are now ongoing and are expected to be finished within a one month period.
Finally, the Science Laboratory is being outfitted with necessary specialized utilities and safety systems. The Ducted Fume Hood Exhaust System, including the necessary ducting and the exhaust fan or blower, has been fully installed. Testing of this new exhaust system is scheduled to be conducted soon. Electrical works are completed, with all new convenience outlets terminated. Furthermore, plumbing works for the drain and waste system of the laboratory are ongoing, with concrete coring for pipes and emergency shower drains already accomplished. The KLD community eagerly anticipates the full commissioning of these advanced facilities.
This project is an investment in future excellence, providing students and faculty with the modern infrastructure they deserve. The entire KLD community looks forward to the turnover and full use of these facilities.
