KLD’s pursuit of offering a Bachelor of Science in Data Science reached a milestone on October 27, 2025, following an evaluation visit by officials from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The visit, centered on the institution’s application for a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC), saw a distinguished team of evaluators scrutinize the preparedness of KLD to introduce this in-demand program. Leading the delegation was Engr. Loupel B. Gueta, Chief Education Program Specialist from CHEDROIVA, who oversaw the detailed inspection alongside technical panel members Dr. Oliver Malabanan and Mr. Sherwin M. Pelayo, also from CHEDROIVA.
The evaluation process, which reviewed the curriculum structure, faculty qualifications, laboratory facilities, and institutional capacity, confirmed that KLD has laid a solid groundwork for the new degree.
However, as is common in COPC process for specialized fields like Data Science, the evaluators also pointed out specific areas that require further enhancement before final compliance is granted.
Despite the necessary revisions, the overall outlook was highly positive. The visiting CHED team acknowledged the institution’s commitment to quality and readiness to offer the program. The most critical takeaway from the evaluation is the eventual issuance of a Recognition of Readiness for Program Authority (RRPA) for the BS Data Science program. Once KLD submits the required Notice of Deficiencies (NODs) addressing the minor points raised by CHED, the RRPA will be granted, allowing the program to operate for a period of two years.
The Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas, specifically the Institute of Computing and Digital Innovation, and its dedicated BS Data Science faculty is fully committed to completing these requirements promptly to secure the RRPA. This step is intended to allow the program to officially commence, hopefully by the next academic year.
