Dual Commitment to Excellence: Institutional Recognition Effort Paired with BS MedTech Compliance Drive

The institution is forging ahead with its dual strategy for academic enhancement, making significant strides toward gaining Institutional Recognition (IR) from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) while simultaneously developing a new, industry-critical program, the BS Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology.

This pursuit requires demonstrated and sustained compliance across all existing academic and administrative functions. As evidence of this process, KLD recently underwent a specialized assessment for one of its key programs. On November 25, 2025, a Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) conducted an evaluation visit for the BS Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology program. The inspecting team included Dr. Jose Jurel Nuevo, who serves as the Chair of the Technical Committee for BS Medical Technology Education from CHEDRO IV-A and CHEDRO III, and Dr. Joel Matamis, a Technical Panel member for BS Medical Technology from CHEDRO IV-A. This visit is reflective of the intensive external assessment to ensure all programs meet the Commission’s policies, standards, and guidelines.

To ensure the program meets the strict standards for its official operation, the BS Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology program must comply with all requirements stemming from the joint evaluation. Specifically, the college is actively addressing the Report on the Result of Preliminary Assessment (RRPA) and the Notice of Deficiencies (NOD) issued by CHED.

On November 28, 2025, the institution submitted its compliance report regarding the Second Notice of Deficiencies, which originated from the joint evaluation conducted by the Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance (OIQAG) of the CHED Central Office and CHEDRO IV-A. Following this submission, the OIQAG returned and endorsed an updated assessment tool back to CHEDRO IV-A. The OIQAG is currently awaiting comments from CHEDRO IV-A until December 22 regarding the submitted compliance and the utilization of the updated assessment tool, signaling the final administrative steps for the program's recognition process. We look forward to sharing further updates, especially the outcome of the critical CHED compliance reports, as we move into the new academic cycle.
